Polly grew up in South Dakota and received an engineering degree from South Dakota State University. She joined 3M in 1986 in Optimized Operations with assignments in Cumberland, WI and Brownwood, TX. In 1987 she moved to Brookings, South Dakota to work as a process engineer and production supervisor in the Medical Division. During the 1990’s, Polly worked in St. Paul on a wide variety of health care products as a manufacturing technology engineer and eventually as manufacturing operations manager for the Surgical Division. In 1998, Polly received her MBA from the Carlson School at the University of Minnesota, and in 2000, Polly moved to her first business role leading the newly formed diagnostic program in the Infection Prevention Division. In 2002, Polly became the MBB for Commercial Graphics, and later the global business manager for that group. In 2006, Polly moved back toward health care and became the lab leader for the Consumer Health Care Division. In 2009, Polly returned to the Infection Prevention business as the global business manager for the Sterilization business. In 2011, Polly joined the 3M Dental division as global business director and evolved to global business director for the Oral Care Solutions Division – the combined Orthodontic and Dental business. Finally, in 2016, Polly was appointed General Manager of the 3M Food Safety business and continues in that role. Polly and her spouse Laura live in St. Paul with their three children: Cooper (9), Jasper (7) and Piper (7). Polly enjoys golf, but also enjoys spending most of her evenings and weekends at track meet, softball and soccer games or building Lego and K’nex contraptions.
