Marlene Quijano was Vice President, Research, Development, Quality and Innovation for the Beverages Business Unit at Kraft Foods. She was responsible for R&D Leadership across Product, Process, Packaging, Quality and Consumer Science within the Coffee and Refreshment Beverages Categories, as well as the Tarrytown, NY, Technical Center site.
Marlene led a group of Food Scientists, Process Engineers, Packaging Engineers and Chemists who are responsible for the product, process, package and sensory development of new products, cost management initiatives, quality improvements and brand maintenance activities.
Prior to this position, Marlene was Senior Director R&D for North American Biscuit, within the Snacks & Confectionery Business Unit, where she was responsible for R&D Leadership in Driving Growth, Productivity, Quality and Core initiatives across the NA Cookie & Cracker Portfolio. She also oversees the Pilot Plant Development Center.
Marlene was employed with Kraft for 30 years. Over the span of her career, she has had leadership roles in R&D involving Biscuit New Product Development, Enabling Technologies; Product & Process Development across Coffee, Beverages, Cereals, Bars and Desserts categories, led major product and process cost optimization initiatives. She has served as Quality Manager for Beverages, and as Director of Packaging and Engineering for Biscuits, Snacks & Confections businesses. Marlene has also held cross functional assignments in Logistics and Human Resources.
Marlene holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Cornell. She is the Kraft Key School Recruiter for Cornell University and sits on Cornell’s Chemical Engineering Advisory Board and Food Science Advisory Council. She is also an ASQ Certified Quality Engineer.
Marlene lives in Harrington Park, NJ, is married and mother of twins, whom she is bringing up bilingual and bicultural. Marlene is Cuban American and is fluent in Spanish and English.
