Brian Sauders is a Senior Food Bacteriologist at NYS Ag & Markets in the Food Laboratory Division. Brian coordinates the lab's involvement in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) PulseNet program and subsequent cluster/outbreak investigations involving foodborne pathogens isolated from foods sold at retail. He also works on the validation and implementation of molecular diagnostic assays for screening for foodborne pathogens such as shiga-toxin producing E. coli (STECs) and other hazards such as ruminant proteins in animal feeds. Additionally, Brian mentors students in the local school of public health and is a APHL/CDC Emerging Infectious Diseases training fellowship program.
